Argent mobile wallet
Argent mobile wallet doesn't have a seed phrase, instead, using a social recovery concept.
You can choose people or devices you trust (we call them ‘guardians’) to help you regain access.
If you lose your phone you need a majority of your guardians to authorise a recovery.
Guardians can be:
- Your trusted friends/family
- Hardware wallets (Ledger and Trezor)
- MetaMask
- Argent
There’s a security period of 48 hours in which you can cancel it.
Here's the full guide to recovering with Argent using guardians.
Alternatively, if you have access to your wallet now, or saved the encrypted recovery kit previously, you can use the off-chain wallet recovery process, that also doesn't include usage of seed phrases.
Argent X
Contrary to Argent mobile, it does have a seed phrase as a primary way to recover the assets.
You are prompted to save the seed phrase before you can view or copy your account address, however if you didn't save the seed or lost it:
- If you have 2FA enabled for your Argent X accounts, there will be a way to recover them as soon as on-chain recovery on Starknet becomes available.
- If you didn't enable 2FA for the account, but you have your private key saved, you can recover the assets (not the wallet itself, unfortunately) by using CLI tool.
Unfortunately if you have none of the above, Argent, as a self-custodial wallet, can't help as we have no access to the seed phrases or assets of our users.
Argent web wallet
Argent web wallet is also a seedless wallet that can be recovered based on your email and password only. If you lose your password, you will be able to reset it if you try to login on the same device/browser where you created the web wallet.
