There are two types of guardian removal notifications you might receive:
1. "Has stopped guarding your wallet"
This means the guardian removed themselves — they no longer want to protect your wallet.
You do not need to take action, but we recommend adding a replacement guardian to keep your wallet secure.
2. "Will be removed in <time>"
This means someone (possibly you, or someone with access to your wallet) initiated a guardian removal.
If you did not request this, you have 36 hours to prevent it by locking your wallet.
How to stop an unwanted guardian removal
Option 1: Lock your wallet yourself
If your current guardians include the Argent default guardian, Metamask, or a hardware wallet, you can lock your wallet here:
https://security.argent.xyz/lock-wallet
Option 2: Ask a trusted guardian to lock your wallet
If you have a friend or family guardian, ask them to lock your wallet:
-
Open Argent Ethereum wallet
-
Go to Security > Guardians
-
Tap the Who I protect tab
-
Tap your wallet > Lock wallet
Once locked, the guardian removal will be blocked.
If you lost access to your phone
If this happened while you did not have your phone, you should:
-
Ask a guardian to lock your wallet
-
Recover your wallet on a new phone as soon as possible
