Your Argent account is a smart contract deployed onchain. This means a network fee (gas) is required to create it. You pay this fee from your first deposit.
For more about how this works, see this article. For a general introduction to network fees, start here.
Does Argent profit from this fee?
No. The fee is paid to the blockchain to cover onchain deployment. Argent does not profit from it.
How do you pay?
You pay the wallet creation fee from your account balance. On Ethereum the account is deployed when you have enough assets in one of the accepted tokens, on Starknet it happens when you make your first transaction, automatically.
You can pay in:
-
ETH, DAI, USDC, or USDT on Ethereum
-
ETH or STRK on Starknet
What is the fee?
The exact fee is shown in-app during onboarding and before your first deposit. It is based on current gas costs.
Is it a recurring fee?
No. It is a one-time fee to create your wallet.
