I have received an unrequested SMS about recovery
As long as someone trying to recover your wallet doesn't have access to these codes your wallet is safe.
If you have a simple/popular username (e.g. apple.argent.xyz) on your wallet, other users might easily confuse with theirs and start a recovery.
We are working on avoiding this by first verifying the phone number before the recovery attempts even start, which will prevent these attempts from ever happening.
This is a frequent occurrence when a user thinks their wallet username was someone else's current one and tries to recover the wallet. Your assets are safe. If you still don't feel secure enough, you can lock your wallet at security.argent.xyz, but please note that if you have only Argent guard as a wallet, it will only be unlocked automatically in 5 days.
I have received an unrequested email about recovery
If you receive an email about recovering your wallet, yet you did not request a recovery, someone may be attempting to take control of your wallet.
If you are confident no one has access to your email account, you can delete and ignore the email. As an extra security measure you can also lock your wallet at security.argent.xyz for 5 days.
You can also cancel the recovery attempt with the help of your Guardians and at https://security.argent.xyz/cancel-recovery
Here is how you can add extra security to your Argent wallet to prevent it:
- Add your phone number in your account switcher (ETH or zkSync icon on the top-left in your Assets tab) > Settings > Account details. This will add phone number into your default Argent guardian and recovery will require 2-step verification.
- Add more than one guardian into your wallet.
Last, we suggest you review the security of your email account:
- Always use a random password and a password manager
- Use 2-factor authentication (e.g. Google Authenticator)
