Argent wallets are self-custodial, which means only you — and your chosen guardians — can recover access. If you want your next of kin to be able to access your wallet in the future, you need to prepare in advance.
Ethereum wallets (Argent mobile)
Your next of kin will need:
-
Access to your guardians (they can be one of them)
-
The email linked to your wallet
-
The phone number linked to your wallet (if any)
-
Your encrypted recovery kit (optional but helpful)
To prepare:
-
Add your next of kin as a guardian
-
Share the email and phone number linked to the wallet
-
Save your encrypted recovery kit somewhere they can access it
-
Make sure all recovery methods are working and up to date
We cannot help recover an Ethereum wallet if no guardians were added and no recovery kit was saved.
Starknet wallets
Argent mobile (Starknet)
Starknet mobile wallets always include your email as a guardian by default.
Your next of kin only needs access to your email to request a recovery.
Recovery is manual — they must contact us at support@argent.xyz for help.
Argent X (browser extension)
To recover a Starknet wallet in Argent X, your next of kin will need:
-
Access to your email (if 2FA was added), or
-
Your seed phrase
Make sure they know where to find this information and that it is stored securely.
